 Matt Orth has a heart for true Biblical discipleship, and it comes through loud and clear when he teaches students. His desire is to make lifelong followers of Jesus Christ who understand who God is and who they are in relationship to God. He teaches straight from scripture, verse by verse, applying it to relevant topics and cultural issues that students face daily. He is authentic and transparent and is a solid speaker and teacher with years of experience and loads of enthusiasm for the truth.
Matt also does ministry training specifically for adults. Topics have included "Re-thinking the Classic Youth Ministry" and "Building Youth Communities". He has a passion for keeping the paradigm of ministry as close to scriptural principles as possible and for trimming away any ideas or practices that lead to unhealthy spirituality.
Matt is from Chambersburg, PA and is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College. He currently serves as our Ministry Director at Crossroads Worldwide and has served in full-time youth ministry, college ministry, and is an elder who teaches frequently at Broad River Community Church in Boiling Springs, NC. He is married to Shannon (since 1995!) and they have a daughter named Micah (born on 1/1/99) who could grow up to be the next George Lucas, lead a band of South American rebels to freedom, or be president of the United States. In addition to loving good movies and being an aspiring writer, Matt also likes the Philadelphia Eagles, good coffee, J.R.R. Tolkein, ultimate frisbee, reading, Bill Mallonee and hiking with his family.
Matt is also a featured speaker for the popular Song of Solomon Conferences, which are held around the United States. Matt speaks to audiences about the Biblical mandate for sexual and emotional purity in relationships, preparing students for a lifetime of holiness, both before and after marriage.
